Ampeleia - Costa Toscana Rosso IGT "Unlitro" 2018 (1L)
Elisabetta Foradori is a winemaking legend who has stretched far beyond her native Italy’s borders, creating an international impact through her advocacy for biodynamic farming and her world class wines—always the pinnacle of finesse! Ampeleia is one of her newer projects, a winery started on the Tuscan Coast in 2002. Unlitro is an homage to the classic Italian table wine, despite the blend being not so traditional. This is 50% Grenache, 20% Carignan, Mourvedre, Sangiovese and Alicante Bouschet. The wines undergo 10% carbonic maceration and are aged for six months in cement tanks.
An effortlessly, easy-drinking peasant wine, this Alicante (Grenache), Tuscan blend from varieties originating from the Mediterranean Basin including Carignan, Alicante Buschet, Sangiovese and Mourvedre is sourced from Ampeleia’s youngest vines, grown closest to the sea, offering a light-style blend with wild herbs and spices, that finishes with notes of cherries and wild strawberries.
